Bite Correction: Braces and Aligners On Obolon
What it is
Bite correction is orthodontic treatment that moves the teeth and jaws into the right position, so the upper and lower teeth meet evenly, without excessive overlap, gaps or a shift. A bad bite is not only about how your smile looks: the teeth wear unevenly, are harder to clean, and some of them are overloaded when you chew.
At VILIDA in Obolon, Kyiv, bites are corrected in adults and children. After diagnostics the orthodontist chooses the method — braces, aligners or an orthodontic appliance — and draws up a plan with costs and timelines. More about the specialty is on the Orthodontics page.

How much bite correction costs
The price depends on the method and how long treatment takes. Braces are priced per system for one jaw, aligners as a package of trays for the whole course, and children’s appliances per appliance. The cost of a course also includes check-ups, and after braces — removal and a retainer tray.
Bite correction prices
The doctor confirms the final cost after the examination.
Orthodontist consultation and comprehensive diagnostics are in the orthodontics price list. The orthodontist will give you an exact estimate after the examination and X-rays.
Types of bad bite

- Deep bite — the upper front teeth cover more than half of the lower ones.
- Open bite — the back teeth meet, but a gap remains between the front teeth.
- Underbite — the lower front teeth and lower jaw sit in front of the upper teeth.
- Overjet — the upper front teeth stick out noticeably in front of the lower ones.
- Crossbite — some upper teeth close inside the lower teeth.
Orthodontists also correct crowding and gaps between the teeth, including a diastema. One patient often has several problems at once, so the plan is made after diagnostics.
How a bite is corrected
| Method | Who it suits | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Braces | Adults and teenagers with permanent teeth, including complex cases | from 14 500 UAH per jaw |
| Aligners | Adults who want treatment to be discreet | from 179 000 UAH per package |
| Appliances and plates | Children, while the jaws are growing | from 6 000 UAH |
Which method suits you, the orthodontist decides after diagnostics, taking into account the type of bite, age, the condition of the teeth and gums, and your wishes about aesthetics.
Bite correction for adults and children
Adults
- Braces — metal, ceramic, sapphire, self-ligating or lingual
- Aligners — clear removable trays
- Treatment takes longer than in children: the jaws are already formed
- Decay and gum problems are treated before starting
Children
- At 6–12 — appliances and plates that guide jaw growth
- Once the permanent teeth are in — braces
- The earlier treatment starts, the easier the correction
- First orthodontic check-up — before the age of 7
Can a bite be corrected without braces
In some cases, yes. In adults, the bite can be aligned with aligners — clear trays changed according to the treatment plan. In children, while the jaws are growing, plates and palatal expanders help. Exercises or trays not prescribed by an orthodontist will not correct a bite: teeth move only under controlled orthodontic force.
What happens if a bad bite is not corrected
- the teeth wear unevenly and some of them chip;
- crowded teeth are harder to clean, so decay and gum inflammation are more common;
- some teeth and the jaw joint work under overload;
- crowns, bridges and implants become harder to place later;
- the smile suffers, and with a marked jaw shift, so does the facial profile.
Who needs bite correction
Worth correcting if
- The teeth meet with a deep bite, open bite, underbite, overjet or crossbite
- Teeth wear unevenly or chip, and crowded teeth are hard to clean
- Prosthetics or implants are planned — on an even arch the crown and implant will sit more precisely
Other treatment or another route first, if
- Decay or gum inflammation — these are dealt with before braces or aligners, together with professional cleaning
- Only the gap between the front teeth bothers you — sometimes it is closed without orthodontics, with restoration or veneers

Questions and answers
How much does bite correction cost?
It depends on the method: a children’s plate costs from 7 900 UAH, braces from 14 500 UAH per jaw, aligners from 179 000 UAH per package. The orthodontist will give you an exact estimate including check-ups and retention after diagnostics.
Can a bite be corrected in adulthood?
Yes. Teeth move at any age; treatment in adults usually just takes longer than in children because the jaws are already formed.
Can a bite be corrected without braces?
Often, yes: in adults with aligners, in children with plates and appliances. Whether this method suits you, the orthodontist will tell you after diagnostics.
What happens if a bad bite is not corrected?
The teeth will wear unevenly and be harder to clean, and some teeth and the jaw joint will work under overload. Over time this makes crowns, bridges and implants more complicated.
Who treats a bad bite?
An orthodontist. They carry out diagnostics, choose the method and see treatment through, bringing in a general dentist and a hygienist when needed.
How long does bite correction take?
From a few months for small problems to two years or more in complex cases. The orthodontist sets out the timeline in the treatment plan.
How do I know my bite is wrong?
Watch for front teeth that do not meet, an upper or lower row that sticks out, crowding or gaps, and discomfort when chewing. The orthodontist will determine the exact type of bite at the examination.
Which bite is the hardest to correct?
Treatment takes longest for problems linked to the size and position of the jaws in adults, since the bones no longer grow. In children such problems are easier to correct, which is why a timely orthodontic check-up matters.
